Hi Baratunde... I just voted!!! and THANK YOU for your work here.... and, I do have a request: you may have covered this already, but it may be time to revisit... the most grounded, clear, and thorough voice of caution that I've yet to find on all this, is Anthony Aguirre's "Keep the Future Human". He's a theoretical physicist who teaches at UC Santa Cruz; in addition to his essay at https://keepthefuturehuman.ai/executive-summary/, he is also offering a contest with cash awards for creatives who want to use digital media for an outreach campaign to promote action... (!!!)

Speaking of action, Pause AI is doing great work... https://pauseai.info/ and it would be great to spread the word about that... then there's the AI Red Lines initiative: https://red-lines.ai/#call

None of the above initiatives are 'anti-tech'; indeed, Aguirre has some very clearly spelled distinctions between what we currently have (which has its own real, albeit more manageable risks) and what we need to NOT build, at least for now. He also has "how-to's": some detailed guidelines about monitoring, etc... meanwhile, while they tend to move quite slowly there, the recent UN gathering has been waking up to AI risks... see https://www.techpolicy.press/un-reaches-consensus-on-ai-now-comes-the-hard-part/ and also https://www.techpolicy.press/the-uns-global-dialogue-on-ai-must-give-citizens-a-real-seat-at-the-table/ FWIW.... and thanks again for all you do!!!

I creates this design fiction piece to help make sense of all this: https://nearfuturelaboratory.com/dispatches/ai/limitless-listening-misadventures/
